International tourism exceeds expectations with arrivals up by 52 million in 2013

Ban ki MoonInternational tourist arrivals grew by 5% in 2013, reaching a record 1,087 million arrivals, according to the latest UNWTO World Tourism Barometer. Despite global economic challenges, international tourism results were well above expectations, with an additional 52 million international tourists travelling the world in 2013. #Uganda tops Africa in tourism growth

Uganda is now ranked top as far tourism industry growth in Africa is concerned. This was announced by Dr Nelson Githinji, the Secretary in the Kenyan Ministry of tourism. According to the 2011 tourism review in Africa, Uganda’s tourism sector grew by 25% in 2011 while that of South Africa and Tanzania realized growth of 21% and 13.4% respectively. Continue reading
