Mountain #Gorilla numbers in #Bwindi Impenetrable National shoot up to 400

The long awaited mountain gorillas’ census results have just been released by Ugandan Minister of Tourism, Wildlife and Antiquities at the Media Center putting the total population of mountain gorillas in Bwindi Impenetrable National Park to 400. This brings the World’s total population of Mountain Gorillas to 880. 480 of the 880 are being shared by Uganda (Mgahinga Gorilla National Park), Rwanda (Volcanoes National Park) and DRC (Virunga National Park). #Uganda tops Africa in tourism growth

Uganda is now ranked top as far tourism industry growth in Africa is concerned. This was announced by Dr Nelson Githinji, the Secretary in the Kenyan Ministry of tourism. According to the 2011 tourism review in Africa, Uganda’s tourism sector grew by 25% in 2011 while that of South Africa and Tanzania realized growth of 21% and 13.4% respectively. Continue reading
